Dog Crate Training: How To Do It Right

Dog crate training involves teaching your dog how to use a dog crate. This is very good for your pet because it will go a long way to help it adapt to the new life it will eventually live while it is with you.

One major advantage of a dog crate training is that it will quickly help your dog know how to comport itself. It helps the dog to start behaving in the right manner. It saves you the owner the hassles of having to clean your house from time to time because of dog poo and other mess your dog can make.

A dog does not like to urinate or poo in the place where it sleeps. A dog is also conscious of hygiene, especially when the environment permits it.

By using a consistent schedule of bringing your dog out and showing it where you want it to pass waste products it will quickly get used to this, and take it as a normal way of life. From this point, the dog will start to see its dog crate as a place of abode which must be kept clean at all times, hence it will avoid dirtying it by all means.

Your duty as an owner is to encourage your pet as much as you can, especially when the pet is doing what you want. This will gear it to do more. Naturally,  your dog will never want you to get mad at it. It will always want to please you and make you happy.

Find a way of rewarding it when it is doing what you want. Know that learning a new thing do take time, and sometimes you may not get it right at the beginning, since you are not an expert in dog training.

With patience, continue to lead your pet dog into what you want it to do, and gradually you will see that the dog crate training you have decided to introduce to your dog will start to pay off.

One major issue you will have which may slow down your dog training is when you are absent, or when you are away from home. Depending on how this happens often it may really create a problem for you and your dog.

If this is what you cannot avoid you have to find a way of working around it,  by providing adequately for your dog. You can keep it in a confined space where the dog is free to move about. This will make it to be comfortable as much as it is possible.

The space you are providing should have some things like toys to play with, bed to sleep on, and water to drink. These are basic essentials that you cannot joke with. Once you have provided them, they will ensure that your pet dog is not really lonely.

A dog is naturally an animal that loves to be confined in a place. A den animal. This is a major advantage that works well for a dog crate training. That is, you are doing what goes well with the natural instincts of your dog. That is the reason why dog crate training does not fail, but works to help your dog acclimatize well with its new home, and find joy and peace in it.

When you continue to put your dog in a crate  alone for sometime, the dog will see the crate as a new den, and it will start accepting it as a new home. In a matter of time the dog will start loving to stay there without you locking it in again. The dog will do this because it sees that is what you want. A dog is a very obedient animal.

You should not only make the dog to want to stay in a dog crate alone. You should also consciously take the dog to where you want it to relieve itself. This is very important. If you do not do it, you will get the poor animal confused and forced it to do what it does not want to do naturally. This will make your training to backfire.

Always reward a good deed or obedience from your dog. When you see that it has obeyed you to go out and relieve itself as you want, and that it has not done it in the crate, then reward it with a treat or sometimes with praises.

Give ample time for when you want to take the dog out where you want it to relieve itself, lets say about 40 mins interval. Put the dog on a leash and lead him there. Return it immediately after finishing, or even if it does not do anything. These are actions that your dog will note quickly and will start to do.

You do not need to lead the dog out at night. A dog recognizes when to sleep, hence just like humans the body metabolism systems will adjust to that. Early in the morning do not forget to come take it out because it will wait for you. If you fail to come, you have compel your dog to relieve itself in its house, which both of you do not like.

How to Buy The Right Dog Crate For Your Pet Dog

dog crate training guideA dog enjoys staying in a room, or just a designated place which it can call its own. It is just the way we humans love to have a room of our own for the reason of privacy. A dog needs privacy too.

This is the function of a dog crate in the life of a dog. It provides room for privacy. It makes a dog feel it is in its natural den, and that is good for the dog.

Some dog owner does not love putting their pet in a dog crate because they see it as a cage. Many people see putting a dog in a cage as a kind of imprisoning the dog which they really hate. What I have for such people is that they have not really seen the variety of dog cages that are available today.

Today dog cages come in various shapes, materials and designs. I believe that the manufacturers have taken the issue of comfort, beauty, and durability into consideration, because all of these are present in the modern day dog cages.

No matter your lifestyle or that of your pet dog, you can get the type of dog cage that you will find okay for your dog. The most common ones are plastics and the steel wire dog crates. They are easy to dismantle, and easy to carry, especailly when you are going on a journey and you want your dog to accompany you.

Many dog owners who use dog crates prefer the steel wire welded type, because even though it is not as flexible as the plastic type, it offers better ventilation. It is also more durable as the dog cannot chew it.

Apart from the material of a dog crate, you have to also look at the size that you need. This will depend upon the size of your dog of course. Your dog should be free to stand, stretch, turn, and sleep comfortably in it. If these are not possible, the dog crate is not worth buying.

With these two factors mentioned, you should not find it difficult to get a good, durable dog crate for your pet dog. A good one will last for the life of the dog, especially when you have taken the size of the dog (when fully grown) into consideration. If you buy a big one when your dog is still a puppy, you can divide the space inside into two at the beginning and expand it later.

With a dog crate in place, you will save yourself the trouble of packing dog wastes, damaged furniture, dirty and smelly rooms, etc.
